Life is about using the whole box of crayons. RuPaul
Hello. Welcome to my blog. My name is Sherry. I am writing this blog to re-introduce creativity into my life. Hopefully, it will resonate with you and encourage you to extend your hand in friendship to your creative self. Or, better yet, to embrace your creative soul with love.
Why do I want to re-introduce creativity into my life?
- Because I feel overwhelmed by the fast pace of life today. I want to slow it down.
- Because I feel like I am losing the best parts of me to technology. I am not handling life in the “technology lane” very well. I feel woefully inadequate in the face of today’s ever-changing technology. It is outdated before I am even aware it exists let alone before I have learned how to use it. Sometimes, I actually get up from the couch to physically turn off the DVD player because I cannot figure out how to get back to cable using the remote. Going forward, streaming it is! But, wait…do I need a smart TV for that?
- Because I miss the feeling of accomplishment I receive when I finish a task I have done hands on.
- Most importantly though, because I miss the time I used to spend exploring the arts. I love the arts! Especially, the visual arts!
I am pretty much drawn to anything and everything in the visual arts.
Whether it be a Drawing…
A Painting…
A Mosaic…

Or,…and the list goes on because there are so many wonderful mediums to choose from.
Why write a blog?
This past January I had the opportunity to view, in person, the Wildlife Photographer of the Year 2019 exhibit at the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM). The exhibit is stunning. It is well worth seeing.

While I was at the exhibit I found myself saying to Steph, my nephew’s partner, “if I was in my twenties and I could do it all over again I would open up an art gallery”. I have said this often to myself over the last few years.
This conversation with Steph replayed in my mind when I was thinking about what I would like my theme to be for my blog. It occurred to me that I do not need to be in my twenties to open an art gallery. Nor does an art gallery need to be in a physical location. An art gallery could be digital. I could create a blog that is an online art gallery. Or, I could create a blog that includes an online gallery.
As ideas often do, my idea to create an online gallery evolved to building an online platform for a creative community composed of:
- art lovers, like myself
- aspiring artists
- established artists
- family and friends of said artists
- art educators
- and, whoever else wishes to join us while we travel on our creative path
It is my hope that my blog will grow from a single author personal blog to a collaborative multiple author blog where members share their stories, offer their expertise, provide support for each other, and care for each other’s creative well-being. And, I would love it if you, my readers, helped me do that!
So, please feel free to share your thoughts, ideas, or advice regarding how best to establish and nurture this creative community!
Thank you for reading my post!
Sincerely,
Sherry
